Our Beginning
Le Chateau Pet Resort was born out of a lifelong love for animals. Before opening the resort, our founder and president, Dawn Hallgren, spent years volunteering with local rescue groups in Amarillo—caring for animals, fostering them in her home, and helping them find their forever families. Watching pets learn to socialize and thrive brought her joy and purpose.
In 2008, when luxury pet resorts were still unheard of, Dawn’s father encouraged her to raise the bar in pet care. With degrees in accounting and business—and a passion for animals—she created a business plan that combined professionalism with compassion. Her vision was simple but bold: to give pets a safe, fun vacation and provide parents peace of mind, knowing their companions were cared for like family.
Our Philosophy
At Le Chateau, we believe every pet deserves a vacation. We’re more than boarding—we’re a luxury pet hotel, designed to give our guests the same care and comfort you’d expect at a five-star resort.
From the moment parents arrive in our lobby with soft music playing, every detail feels intentional. Receptionists greet them with warmth, Pawtenders and Play Attendants act as concierges and activity coordinators, and overnight caregivers provide room service and evening comfort. Daily housekeeping, spa treatments like pedicures and facials, and plenty of playtime complete the experience.
